ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions taken September 14, 2023

On September 14, 2023, the ICJIA Budget Committee approved one future funding opportunity totaling $2.25 million and awarded $16.8 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.

Notice of Funding Opportunity

The Committee approved:

  • A $2.25 million Institute 2 Innovate (i2i) funding opportunity to support nonprofit organization program planning and capacity-building and to strengthen core systems and operations within organizations that provide violence prevention programming.

Grant Designations

The Committee designated:

  • $200,000 in SFY23/24 American Rescue Plan Act funds to the Decatur Community Partnership to support the implementation of a violence prevention program similar to the Ceasefire model.
  • $1.9 million to Live Free Chicago to launch a Community Healing Resource Center Program to provide holistic healing services and promote community healing in communities impacted by violent crime.
  • $9.6 million in SFY24 Co-Responder Pilot Program funds to four police departments.
  • $1 million in SFY24 Flexible Housing Pool funds to the Center for Housing and Health for its Flexible Housing Pool Reentry Pilot Program.
  • $1.2 million in FFY20 and FFY21 Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Act funds to support substance use disorder programs in six correctional centers across Illinois.
  • $826,000 in FFY20, FFY21, and FFY22 Violence Against Women Act funds to support nine victim service programs.
  • $521,227 in SFY24 General Revenue funds to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office’s DIVERT program. The DIVERT program will implement both diversion and deferred prosecution programs at the pre-trial and prosecution phases.
  • $523,616 in SFY24 Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention funds to three community organizations.
  • $990,000 in SFY24 Violence Prevention and Reduction funds to four community organizations.
