A Message from ICJIA on Juneteenth
Juneteenth, “Freedom Day,” is a holiday acknowledging the end of slavery.
We would be remiss to think that the inequities, disinvestment, and systemic racism slavery created ended on June 19, 1865.
We are a team of Justice Warriors, working daily to ensure equity, fairness, and opportunity in our most marginalized communities.
You cannot separate peace from freedom because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom. -Malcolm X
Today, we celebrate and acknowledge a critical piece of American History.
But tomorrow, it’s back to fighting the inequities that remain.
