ICJIA’s Research & Analysis Unit is committed to advancing justice and informing policy through rigorous research and evaluation. Our latest newsletter, Winter 2025 Issue 17, highlights key initiatives and achievements in the field of criminal justice, victim services, and violence prevention.

This edition features a spotlight on the ICJIA Reentry Service Provider Summit, which brought together stakeholders to discuss best practices and collaborations in reentry services. The summit included award-winning research on employment after prison and strategies to enhance support for returning citizens.

Our newsletter also covers new publications, including the Domestic Violence Pretrial Practices Working Group’s final report, which provides recommendations for evidence-based improvements to court procedures. Additionally, our researchers evaluated Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings in Illinois schools, revealing significant gains in mental health knowledge and responsiveness among participants.

ICJIA has received funding to support InfoNet system updates and the evaluation of the Rural Illinois Opioid Overdose Prevention Initiative. Our researchers have been actively engaged in various events, including presentations at national conferences and local training sessions for victim service providers. In addition, we welcome a new staff member to the unit.
