DescriptionPublic Act 101-0024 ensured the permanent collection of Illinois traffic and pedestrian stop data by police departments. Each year, police departments submit their data to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). Per a Data Sharing Agreement, IDOT shares this data with ICJIA on an annual basis. The purpose of this dashboard is to visualize Illinois traffic stop information. This dashboard contains Illinois traffic stop data from the year data collection began, 2004, to the most recent year of data we have received from IDOT—please refer to the “last updated” date. The information contained in this dashboard represents what was reported by the police officer as occurring during the stop. The dashboard can be filtered by different demographics—gender, race, age—as well as year, county, and police agency. Users can also view information about the stop itself, such as the day, time, and police shift it occurred, the reason for stop and result of stop, as well as if a search was conducted and contraband was found.
