Illinois Work Release Centers: Perspectives of Prison Administration and Program Staff
Illinois Adult Transition Centers (ATCs) connect people who are incarcerated with vocational opportunities to support successful community reentry. ATCs offer tailored behavioral health treatment and training to build educational and vocational skills to individuals before they are released. They also provide promising employment prospects. Researchers interviewed Department of Corrections administrators and ATC program staff for their perspectives on the centers’ effectiveness, strengths, and weaknesses.
