ICJIA Wears Orange for Gun Violence Prevention
On January 21, 2013, Hadiya Pendleton marched in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. One week later, she was shot and killed on a Chicago playground. Pendleton’s friends commemorate her life by wearing orange, the color that hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves from being shot.
According to WearOrange.org, more than 43,000 people are killed with guns annually in the United States.
Wear Orange June 7-9 to honor survivors and build community with those working to end gun violence.
