ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions taken October 19, 2023

On October 19, 2023, the ICJIA Budget Committee approved one future funding opportunity for $45 million and awarded $5.7 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.

Notice of Funding Opportunity

The Committee designated:

  • $45 million in anticipated SFY25 Restore, Reinvest, and Renew funding to support a funding opportunity for organizations that provide reentry and civil legal aid services in communities across Illinois.

Grant Awards

The Committee designated:

  • $1.2 million in SFY23 and SFY24 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant increases to two organizations.
  • $1.4 million in SFY23 and SFY24 ARPA grants to four organizations.
  • $125,000 in SFY23 and SFY24 ARPA funds to support Adler University’s online undergraduate degree program for residents of the Big Muddy River Correctional Center.
  • $200,000 in FFY21 Justice Assistance Grants funds to Acclivus to continue its violence prevention program.
  • A $106,088 SFY24 Safe From the Start grant increase to the Center for Prevention of Abuse.
  • $121,071 in FFY19 VOCA funds to the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office to support its Antiterrorism Emergency Assistance Program.
  • $257,600 in FFY19 VOCA funds to the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services to support the domestic violence hotline.
  • $512,138 in SFY24 Bullying Prevention Program funds to seven organizations across Illinois.
  • A $658,526 SFY22-24 Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention (CBVIP) grant increase to Entrepreneurs Academy.
  • A $170,790 SFY24 CBVIP grant increase to New Life Knew Solutions.
  • $500,000 in SFY24 General Revenue Funds to The Blessed Child to implement a violence prevention program focused on preventing gun violence for youth and young adults ages 12-27 in southern Cook County.
  • A $437,000 SFY23 Violence Prevention Reduction Program grant increase to St. Agatha Catholic Church.
