ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions taken April 18, 2024

On April 18, 2024, the ICJIA Budget Committee awarded about $33.2 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.

Grant Awards

The Committee designated:

  • $100,000 in SFY24 Violence Prevention and Reduction funds to Soul Children of Chicago to implement a violence prevention strategy that focuses on the adolescent population.
  • $1.4 million in FFY23 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funds for services to oversee subgrants to organizations that provide services to underserved victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) and Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA) will serve as lead entities for these grants.
  • $612,528 in FFY23 VAWA Sexual Assault Services Program funds to ICASA to oversee subgrants to organizations that provide services to underserved victims of sexual assault.
  • $26.6 million in FFY22 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds to ICADV, ICASA, and Child Advocacy Centers of Illinois to oversee subgrants to organizations that provide victim services.
  • $4.5 million FFY22 VOCA funds to support 10 Legal Assistance for Victims of Crime programs across Illinois.
  • $37,661 in FFY24 Emergency Federal Law Enforcement Assistance Program funds to the City of Highland Park to help cover extraordinary law enforcement expenses incurred as a result of a mass shooting at its 2022 Independence Day parade.
