ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions taken July 13, 2023
On July 13, 2023, the ICJIA Budget Committee approved two future funding opportunities totaling $474,900 and awarded $27.2 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.
Notices of Funding Opportunity
The Committee approved:
- A $114,900 SFY24 Illinois Family Violence Coordinating Council notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) to support part-time local council coordinators at each local council.
- A $360,000 SFY24 Safe From the Start NOFO to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive and coordinated community-based models that serve children ages 0 to 5 who have been exposed to violence in their homes and/or communities.
Grant Designations
The Committee designated:
- $236,707 in SFY24 Death Penalty Abolition Funds to support the James B. Moran Center for Youth Advocacy Services’ Assist Families Experiencing Trauma program.
- $900,000 to support the SFY24 Community Law Enforcement Partnership for Deflection and Substance Abuse Treatment Program.
- $6,694,300 in SFY24 funds appropriated to Metropolitan Family Services’ Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) program. CP4P provides a targeted and holistic multi-tiered approach to confronting gun violence in Chicago neighborhoods at highest risk.
- $1,000,000 in SFY24 funds appropriated to Safer Foundation’s Working 4 Peace employment programs. These programs provide support and employment opportunities to young adults, especially those with criminal records who are residing in or reentering their communities.
- $10,841,100 in SFY24 Violence Prevention and Reduction funds to 22 community organizations.
- $7.5 million in SFY24 funds appropriated to Acclivus to support violence prevention program.
- $50,000 in SFY23-24 American Rescue Plan Act funds to West Chicago Elementary School District 33 to support its Becoming A Man program.
