ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions 2/16/23
On February 16, 2023, the ICJIA Budget Committee approved two future funding opportunities totaling about $1.5 million and awarded nearly $5.6 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.
Notices of Funding Opportunities
The Committee allocated:

$714,900 in FFY22 National Forensic Science Improvement Act funds for a notice of funding opportunity to state and local accredited laboratories and medical examiners’ offices for programs to improve the quality and timeliness of forensic science or medical examiner services in the state.

$770,512 in FFY22 Violence Against Women Act Sexual Assault Services Program funds for a notice of funding opportunity to support rape crisis centers and other non-profit, non-governmental programs that provide direct intervention and related assistance to victims of sexual assault.
Grant Awards
The Committee designated:

$166,040 in Albany Park/Irving Park Violence Prevention Grant Program funds to the North River Commission to support a trauma-informed case management and community engagement program.

$405,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to Save the Hampton House and Telpochcalli Community Education Project for violence prevention programs.

$1.9 million in line item-appropriated ARPA funds to Live Free Chicago to support its Community Healing Resource Center.

$200,000 in Justice Assistance Grant funds to address community transportation barriers. The committee awarded $50,000 grants to the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts Judicial-Supreme Court, Circuit Court of Cook County, County of Montgomery Health Department, and Peoria County.

$2.9 million in Victims of Crime Act funds to support transitional housing programs for victims of crime.
