ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions 12/15/22

At the December 15, 2022, ICJIA Budget Committee Meeting, the committee approved one future funding opportunity and awarded nearly $47.6 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.

Notices of Funding Opportunity

The committee:

  • Allocated $1.4 million in FFY22 Violence Against Women Act grants to support a notice of funding opportunity. This opportunity will be open to two lead entities that will oversee subgrants to organizations that provide services to underserved victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Grant Awards

The committee:

  • Designated $264,100 in FFY22 Improving Reentry Education and Employment Outcomes program funds to Adler University to support the Access to Higher Education in Prisons Program. This program will provide individuals who are incarcerated the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

  • Designated $6,165 in FFY18 Justice Assistance Grants funds to Cook County’s Human Trafficking Outreach Coordinator Program. This designation brings the program’s total grant award to $111,425.

  • Designated over $2.5 million in FFY20 Victims of Crime Act funds to support 12 Court-Appointed Special Advocate Victim Assistance programs.

  • Designated about $5.3 million in SFY23 line item-appropriated American Rescue Plan Act funds to support 12 violence prevention programs across Illinois.

  • Designated over $6.5 million in SFY23 Co-Responder Pilot Program funds to three police departments. Police will partner with licensed clinical social workers to provide follow-up care to victims who may benefit from mental or behavioral health services.

  • Designated nearly $31 million in Restore, Reinvest, and Renew (R3) program funds to support 56 current R3 programs for a third year.
