Department of Justice Approves Illinois’ State Crisis Intervention Plan
On November 16, 2023, the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance approved Illinois’ plan for the use of $9,527,496 in federal State Crisis Intervention funding to implement programs that work to keep guns out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves and others. To develop the plan, ICJIA formed an advisory committee that includes law enforcement, prosecution, courts, victim services, behavioral health providers, legal counsel, and community representation. The group identified priority uses for the grant funds, which will be made available through three competitive Notices of Funding Opportunity posted in early 2024.
