New Police Deflection Research

Police come across individuals with many service needs, such as substance use or mental health treatment. Public safety and public health partnerships encourage police to deflect individuals away from the criminal justice system and into treatment.

In this report, ICJIA researchers evaluated the planning process for Choices, a deflection program serving southwestern Illinois counties.
