The Death Penalty Abolition Fund was created by Public Act 725 ILCS 5/119(b),stating that all unobligated and unexpended moneys remaining in the Capital Litigation Trust Fund were to be transferred to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority for services for families of victims of homicide or murder and for training of law enforcement personnel.

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is requesting proposals for the Services to Assist Chicago Families Program. A total of $1,750,000 in Death Penalty Abolition (DPA) funds are available through this solicitation for use over a period of up to 36 months.
The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is requesting proposals for grants for Services to Assist Families Experiencing Trauma. Grants will be made with SFY21 Death Penalty Abolition funds. A total of $3 million in Death Penalty Abolition funds is available through this solicitation for use over a period of 36 months.
The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority is requesting proposals for grants funding training of law enforcement personnel. Grants will be made with State Fiscal Year 2019 Death Penalty Abolition (DPA) funds. A total of $4.5 million in funding is available through this solicitation for use over a period of two months. Contingent on future appropriation and satisfactory performance, State Fiscal Year 2020 DPA funds also may be made available through this opportunity.
